Diode laser SALSA with power of 120 Watt and wavelength 940 nm is a versatile, multifunctional device ideal for endovenous treatment of varicose veins, transcutaneous treatment of superficial veins (face and legs teleangiectasis), ENT treatments and a wide variety of surgical procedures involving cutting, coagulation, ablation, or vaporization of tissue.

 
 

On the third peak of haemoglobin absorption, the wavelength ranges between 780 and 1100nm. Wavelength 940nm is located on the top of the peak. The curves (graphs) of light absorption for oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin shows that light of diode laser 940nm is absorbed better than the light of 1064nm lasers (ND:Yag) respectively.

 

For coagulation of larger and deeper blood vessels diode laser SALSA delivers 120 Watts of peak power in pulse mode. In comparison to other lasers which emit visible laser radiation, like green KTP (532 nm) or yellow (585-595 nm), SALSA laser coagulates deeper through the entire volume of the vessel.

 

Because of the higher absorption of the laser light in hemoglobin, trans-dermal therapy of vascular lesions accomplished by diode laser with 940nm wavelength requires lower density of energy than therapy with 1064 nm laser. That is why the procedure with SALSA laser is faster, less painful and more safe at the comparable efficacy as using lasers such as Nd:YAG, KTP, diode laser 810nm and 980nm.

The high power SALSA laser system treats successfully benign vascular lesions like:

  • facial telangiectasis
  • legs teleangiectasis – spider veins (up to 3 mm diameter and 2-3 mm depth)

Hemangiomas

Using diode laser with 940 nm wavelength working in CW and PM mode is a safe and very effective solution for treatment of large mature hemangiomas. Using the laser significantly decreases time of the procedure which is beneficial for both doctors and patients as it comes to anesthesia and cost of the procedure.

 

Advantages of diode laser 940 nm in Hemangiomas

  • 940 nm high power diode laser in cw mode is safe and very effective for the treatment of large mature hemangiomas.(due to low blood supply on the surface)
  • Very fast procedure saving medications for anesthesia, doctor's time and patient's anesthesia time.
  • Superficial necrosis of the tumor in proliferating hemangiomas is due to high blood flow in all layers and occurs because of too high absorption of 940 nm diode laser energy superficially - pulse mode recommended.
  • Further studies required for fresh proliferating hemangiomas with 940 nm 120 Watt diode laser in pulse mode
