The cryogenic ablation area for VATS chest wall deformity correction includes:

5–7 intercostal nerves between Th4 and Th10 on both sides (bilaterally).

Active freezing portion of the probe in the extrapleural space:

below the lower rib margin, approximately 2 cm lateral to the ends of the transverse processes of the vertebral body.

Freezing time:

1 minute (extrapleura) or 2 minutes (intrapleura) for each intercostal nerve.
Total cryoanalgesia time during surgery is 15–25 minutes.
